If you’re using an affiliate marketing blog to generate an online income, you’d better carefully select your WordPress theme!

Because it’s important to match your theme with your business.

Kelly Austin from Higher Salary writes about that in today’s guest post.

If you’re an affiliate marketer, using a WordPress blog, or want to set up one, pay attention.

Here goes.
Enjoy!

WordPress themes for affiliate marketing blogs

WordPress is one of the easiest and most popular blogging software programs available on the Internet today. There are even free WordPress themes available for your blog or website.

If you use WordPress to set up your affiliate marketing blog, you will be able to get your blog up and running in less than a day.

There are several elements to consider before choosing a theme for your blog.
You must first determine the purpose of your blog and then choose an appropriate WordPress design theme to complement your blog.

These are important questions to answer before designing your WordPress blog, so that you choose a great theme that will enhance your affiliate marketing goals.

Determining the Purpose of Your Affiliate Marketing Blog
There are a dizzying array of WordPress themes from which to choose when you are setting up your affiliate marketing blog.
It is wise to take stock of your market niche and your client base, as well as the products or services to which you are linking your blog.

For example, if you are an affiliate marketer for a health care company, choosing a blog theme that is congruent with health care interests and concerns would be the most advantageous blog design theme for you to choose.

You may also want to take stock of tangentially-related products and services.
For instance, linking your blog to a vitamin company may be a nice match to a blog that is focused on health care issues.

Choosing a WordPress Theme that Complements your Affiliate Marketing Blog
Designing an affiliate marketing blog on WordPress is quite easy and uncomplicated.
After you have determined what your affiliate marketing goals are and who your client base is, it is time to decide on a WordPress theme for your blog.
There are many different WordPress themes from which to choose. It is best to choose a theme that is visually appealing, easy to navigate and matches your products and services.

In other words, if you are setting up a blog about children’s parties, your blog theme will be vastly different than if you are setting up a blog about refinancing residential mortgage loans.
The former will be much more light-hearted and colorful, as compared to a banking or finance blog.
Choosing your design theme carefully is a core element of becoming a successful affiliate marketer.

Changing Your WordPress Theme
One great aspect of WordPress is that it is extremely easy to change blog themes, if you decide that your theme is no longer working for you or needs to be refreshed.

One of the most functional aspects of WordPress is the ease with which you can change themes.
All you need to do is go to the appearance tab, and you can search for new themes and install them directly from that menu. In the appearance menu, you will be able to search by color, design, functions and so on.

This user-friendly aspect of WordPress makes it very easy to change the look and feel of your affiliate marketing blog in very little time.

WordPress is not just a design platform, it is also a content management tool. There are a variety of tools and widgets that you can use to make your blog interesting, unique and highly-functional. Remember to choose an appropriate and eye-catching WordPress theme for your affiliate marketing blog.

    Kelly,
I love wordpress. I am new to blogging and thought it would be so hard but it really isn’t. There are so many websites to help you all along the way with anything you need to know like you blog. I would say that if you can choose the right theme from the start that is a good idea. I changed and it was not that easy. Some themes are a lot different in their structure.

There are two themes that I have come to love, Mystique is the first but has been replaced by SemiLogic. It is all based on widgets so that when you do an update you don’t lose any changes you made to the site.

    Thanks
    Selina

    Hi,

I think that’s an interesting blog post, so thanks to Kelly for writing it.

WordPress does provide a good shortcut for affiliate marketing, but I think it can become easy to be a bit too lazy with it.

Personally, I certainly think that time should be spent changing from the default template. But one of the elements that makes the biggest difference is to change the header picture that’s being used.

If you’ve got an affiliate site about TV sets, for instance, then let’s see a photo of a TV set! A header image of a tree, a beach, or a sunset might look nice in some circumstances, but this is one case where it shows a lack of attention to detail.

Great post and very witty indeed. I liked your cool and witty advice. WordPress is the easiest way to build your internet empire. Getting a cool wordpress theme is not easy, I mean free ones. lol

Having a custom one built for you is really expensive and if you are just starting out then that is a no no. It was really difficult for me getting a theme for my blogs but I finally stayed with what I got after spending days online searching for a befitting wordpress theme for my blogs.

I always did like the ability to change themes fast. Just a quick note on text and backgrounds: I found that users stayed longer and read more when the font was black and the background white. Conversely, when the text was white and the background white, readers left faster. Which can be good or bad depending on your case.

For example, In the case of my affiliate sites I want the readers to click to the product after reading only that page, however, on my marketing site I do the opposite.
