You raise a couple good points that I've often debated with friends of mine (and family).

I used to work at a company where I did consultations (over the phone) about their online businesses, and if I had to guess, roughly 70% decided to have an online presence to expand their small business base.

Small businesses across the country are starting to realize that without an a verifiable presence online, they simply can't compete with the store down the street that has a full fledged website offering all of their services and/or products.

Give it a few more years, and I'm sure we'll see many, many more hopping on the bandwagon, and those that don't have an online presence probably won't exist anymore (or in the minority, at best).
