  1. Building a list has been the best decision I have made for my blogging business.

It really helps to bring in income for the business.

A solid top ten list! And I definitely agree with the post above. Don’t wait to get started with building your list. Many online marketers believe that your list is your #1 asset to building a solid clientele.

From personal experience, AWeber is the best to signup with as it allows you to sort your emails by how many days to send after the last email. This is SO MUCH easier to organize than having to sort from how many days after visitors sign up (as some other programs use).

    Hi Jared,

Start a blog is very easy nowadays with WordPress. It has tons of great plugins like All in One SEO to help you simplify the SEO routine works.

If you have not done it yet, I encourage to test it out. It is free!

I will put thoughts into your recommendations and will share more ideas here when they are ready.

    Hi Kelvin,

Yes, I agree. A list is the lifetime asset in an online business. Most important is the target list with buyers (not just freebie seekers) and our relationship with that list which requires us to constantly put effort to nurture and maintain.

I believe in giving tremendous value to my subscribers before convincing them to purchase my stuff.

    Cheers
    Frank

Thank you for the blogging tips! I wondered – Have you personally had results with the datafeedr plugin? Do you have a URL I could look at that uses one?

Nowadays, you need a list – it’s one of the best choices I’ve made when it comes to internet marketing. Why just give your potential customers one chance to see your site? This will also help you build up a solid relationship with them. Trust is so important and I think it’s easy to forget about that soemtimes, people want to know they can trust you.

    Hi Patricia,

Here is the url for Datafeer plugin:
    http://www.datafeedr.com/

I personally have not tried it on mu blog. It is because I promote my own product and other JV partners product on my blog. I just use a different kind of monetization
    model.

But Datafeer is very easy to setup, and it quickly create another new income opportunity for your internet marketing business.

    Cheers

    Hi Thomas,

Definitely a list and your relationship with that list is the lifelong asset in the internet marketing business (in offline business as well).

Research shows that it takes on average 7 contacts before someone make a purchase decision. With an opt-in list (permission marketing), we are able to do that again and again without almost zero marginal cost.

For anyone who have not done so, start building your list as quickly as possible. That is the best decision to make in internet marketing business.

    Cheers

    Thanks for sharing.
I think the main one is building your list.
Having a list of people interested in what you offer should be your priority.

  11. Mia says:

These are all good ways to generate income, but in order to do this one needs first to generate traffic to its blog, and a good PR. Quality blog posts aren’t enough, as competition is getting bigger and bigger. Do you also have some advice regarding this?

  12. Jessica says:

The only thing negative about datafeedr is that it is not for unlimited sites. The last time I checked I believe it was 97 a month for unlimited sites. Now with marketers like me just starting out, 97 a month can be a deal breaker.

  13. Brian @ Boat plans says:

This building list concept is really the #1 idea I see raised again and again by all successful internet marketers. There is some work to set it up, as you have to create unique content for your subscribers, but for sure the return on investment is worth it!

Good info. #6, #8, #10 very good. #9, not so much. For those of us without a lot of blog traffic it seems you’d have to have MANY followers to generate any revenue with dated banner ads, unless they were very specifically targeted to your blogs demo. Video would be a much better alt. Still good post.

  15. Steve says:

I share the same thoughts that blogging for money can be lucrative by monetizing them with adsense, affiliate programs and so on. But just like a static website, blogs need lots of traffic to make money and blogs that are self-updating from comments by visitors are the best blogs to get traffic as they have new fresh content. There also seems to be also a lot of auto blogging software that can populate blogs with other peopel’s content for those blog owners who are lazy to write. There are pros and cons to autoblogging softwares depending on how one use it. Use it moderately and do some rewriting on the content will make your content unique. Just by having thousands of posts with duplicate content on your blog, is no good, because search engines may de-index the blog as a blog farm.

  16. Keith says:

I find a good way to build your list is when writing articles / guest posts, mention the freebie ebook and link straight to it. That way people come looking for it and some days, when I have had a few new such submissions, I really notice the list count building up.

  17. Rathan says:

    Hi Frank,

I am sure it will be a sure shot win if someone follows all the steps listed. What about syndicated content, will that help at all in getting more content to your blog which will reduce your burden of writing tons of content. I mean controlled syndication.

It would have been great if you could have touched upon it.

    regards

    Rathan

From my experience the best way to make money from a blog is to use it to sell or promote your own product. Selling affiliate products is the next best way. You can make some money from Adsense but you need a lot of traffic.

  19. Thomas Retterbush says:

Thanks for the resource. I had never heard of Datafeedr. I’m taking it is only available for WordPress? Man, I really like the Datafeedr concept, I’m just not a big fan of WordPress. Your post may have made me change my mind, however. I may have to give WordPress another chance just so I can use the Datafeedr.
