Domain Check – Domain Names Quiz

A domain check normally is where you check if the desired domain still is available.

You do that, because you have this great product or service that you want to sell and you’re looking for a great domain name for a new website to promote it from.

That’s when you do a domain check. You want to see what’s available and what’s taken already.

If it’s taken, you can do a whois to find out who the owner is and make him/her an offer. If it’s available, you can register the name.

What are you looking for when searching for a premium domain name?
- a domain name containing your main keywords,
- a catchy name that will be easily remembered and
- a name that covers what you’re promoting.

How hard is it to find that catchy, short and easy to remember premium domain name?

Well, for one thing it’s becoming more difficult each and every day.
One of the reasons for that is that there are millions of website owners and quite a few of them get more savvy each day. They investigate well and do a thorough domain check, resulting in registering great domain names.

Another reason is that on the other hand, many of these website owners fail, after which their domain name is bought by someone else who deals in expired domain names.
Most of the time the reason behind these deals is the traffic that the domain name still generates and if you buy a domain name from them, it often comes with (a bit of) traffic.

So it’s very hard to come up with premium domain names these days.
Registrars, like Nameboy.com, often have a special script available that generates domain names for you based on the keywords you enter and they’ll do a domain check to see if they are available.

Heck, there’s even free software available to come up with premium domain names, like Domain Name Analyzer. You can put your main keyword or even key phrase in the middle and have tons of various suffixes and prefixes to come up with the most amazing names. It also let’s you do a domain check too.

This often results in a domain name that does not quite fit the product or service or profession that is promoted on the site.

Talking about that topic, let’s do a little quiz called domain check: which domain belongs to which profession, product or service?

Profession, product or service Domain name
Roofing AffordableReports.com
BUM Marketer ForexOptimized.com
High Ticket Ghostwriter ProfitAudio.com
Outstanding Jewelery Shop GetRoofing.com
Report Marketeer ArticleMarketeer.com

What do you think?
Great names huh?

Guess what. They’re for sale!
And they don’t even cost thousands and thousands of dollars, as you would expect.
No, they’re far below the market prices. There are hundreds of them and you can make an offer for each and every one of them.

You don’t even have to do a domain check. If you’re offer is accepted, the domain name is yours. For as long as you want.

  1. Actually, the analyzer is a nice piece of software, really.
just like the others from Softnik: I have been working with goodkeywords, but I didn’t yet try this one. Thanks for the hint.

  2. Telecom Management Expert says:

Don’t forget that you can use a hyphen “-” in a URL, so if the url you want is taken, but there is no active site, use a hyphen to get the keywords you want.

  3. Williams says:

  4. 3Dfabrique says:

I had some problems in selecting good domain names for my company. But later on I got a good name. Do you have any idea in getting good premium domain names. I need one domain name for my new company but I am not getting what I need. What to do?

  5. Sharmani says:

Very interesting and easier way of making even a person not known about Domain and web.

  6. I myself was looking for a good domain name and found the one’s i wanted taken. On top of using a Hyphen i found the name i wanted on a .info site. And it kinda works cause the site i was working on was for information.

    • Sam says:

Gammie I had a similar problem. All the really good domains were taken and I too ended up with a .info site. I have doubts whether a .info is a good as a .com. I have never seen a very popular .info site, so I don’t know if the search engines discriminate against them or .com is just that much more publicly “accepted” and popular. Assuming all the good premium domains are gone what is the next best option? Is it better to go with a short/keyworded off .com domain (.net, .org, .info) or to pick a mediocre to poor .com?

      • Case Stevens says:

dot com domains are generally better accepted for business sites.
dot info names are considered second hand domains.
You can search for great domain names in expired domains or just buy one from a trader.

  7. Anonymous says:

I had a hard time finding my domain w/o the .info, as well as trying to find a 3 letter domain, the hardest to come by it seems.

  8. Jake Brumble says:

I thought all of the 3 char domain names were spoken for, I once got excited about finding a 2 char name ‘available’ before I learned they were being retired from service when they expired.

A couple of of aids I recently encountered:

wordlab.com lots of word and phrase ideas for company names, etc.

lingzini.com a name finding aid that uses a different approach, a dictionary and thesaurus are included in it’s set of fuction windows.

  9. Wondeful explanation :) some more useful tips at the of book domain. Your domain name should pertain somewhat to the business you are going to be running online and what your website is going to be all about.Try to stick to the point with your domain name. Spell things clearly and avoid too much alternate spelling, like spelling boys as boyz. A big mistake that many people make when selecting their domain name is to use their real name. While you may think www. johnsmith.com looks really cool, no one is going to know what the heck it is you do, except for maybe your mom.
