In February 2011, Google launched a search toolbar named Google panda.

Google panda is actually algorithmic program, based on the process of Artificial Intelligence. It is a new search tool bar that would rank the status of your site accordingly.

If your site is of supreme quality, then it would be rated on the top. On the contrary, if it is of low quality, it would be rated below.

Recently Google panda received a setback. In fact due to incessant poor service, many owners of the sites have launched complain against Google’s inefficiency. This news is devastating for Google. This has left Google panda in a precarious condition.

In my opinion, apart from taking help of Google panda, you can do it on your own. There are few facts, which you need to consider improving the overall look and feel of your site. The following are the 7 SEO tips to get rid of the problem.

Google Panda expects effective and lengthy content

Several seo sites where you need to follow the instructions strictly. The length of the content is very vital. However, you would see that they tell you that content should not exceed more than 500 words.

In reality, if you really want to improve the condition of your site then you need not to pay heed to word limit. You have to write powerful, effectively and lengthy content that would reflect your conciseness.

In case if your page exceeds more than certain word limit. Then you should definitely reform the page. You have to decide how many sub headings you are going to give along with pictures. Try to highlight the prominent areas.

Make worthy content

You should consider the quality of your site. If your site looks too much messed up with useless contents, then it is better to wipe off them.
You should also pay importance to enhance the quality of the content. It is always better on your part to update the contents frequently. You should not attach too much of adds. As it distracts the concentration from the original content, it is always good to refrain from using contents that are available automatically.

Opt for a primary link profile

You could make your site more popular by linking to some other innumerable sites.
One thing you should always remember the linking, which you are going to do, should be trust worthy. You should judge them by its authenticity. You should not bother regarding the traffic at all. Very shortly, you would see that readers would praise your effort. In fact panda gives the positive result to the people.

Enrich your kingdom of knowledge

In this new era of internet, you need to enrich your sites with many things to increase the viewers.
You should add more pictures.
You could also make a blog-posting corner along with forums.
You should also give option of sharing through the social network like Facebook.
You should use your creativity to embellish your site. Even you could also go for regular video updates. This would definitely grow interest in people.

Give importance to keywords

Previously, there was a taboo in Seo techniques that you had to choose two or three times the same word. You had to forcefully, insert them in between the sentences and had to bold them.
However, Google panda do not appreciate this form. Now also you need to highlight the keywords but you should let it happen very normally. It is appreciable and Google compliments you by giving a good post.

Give importance to navigation

You should always remember to make the contents easy and searchable.
If a user has to strive a lot after your site for understanding how to use, then it is embarrassing. Always try to keep the contents rationally organized with no flaws.

Do not use Short cuts

You all know that shortcut is not the key to success. If you really want a good ranking then please stop using short cut methods.
You should not get prey to plagiarism.
You should try to use fresh and valuable contents.
Restructure your contents in an informative way that would compel users to go through you site. Google would also reward you with good ranking.

Guys, hope you have understood well what you need to do to make your cite the cynosure amongst millions. You should definitely follow these tips to get higher ranking.

I just finished reading a micro niche finder course, a brand new way to identify profitable unsaturated niches.

The new thing about this method of finding micro niches is, that it doesn’t depend on competition evaluation, page ranks or backlinks. Instead, this strategy fully depends on relevant content only. That’s exactly what search engines need.

This micro niche finder course is about
- how to find the winning niche that will give you consistent income,
- figuring out what your niche offer should be (selling your own product, advertising and affiliate offers) and
- how you are going to sell your offer to the micro niche found (free, paid traffic and your delivery funnel).

This combination is what makes this method so powerful. Because doing this kind of research enables you UPFRONT to tell whether a micro niche will be profitable or not.

To focus on a single keyword, as we are used to now, rather than the market, is a big mistake. That’s why this micro niche finder focuses on a market and the relevance of the keywords you have to select in order to fully cover that market and to fully satisfy the search engines.

These steps are called Principles or Frameworks which you’ll learn in the first part of the course.

The second part is about the mechanics. This micro niche finder course shows you how to do your keyword evaluation, which involves keyword research and positioning for maximum results. And it teaches you keyword structure, which is how to build your website so you can get high rankings on Google for the keywords you are targeting instantly.

It uses the Google Keyword tool and a lot of other famous and lesser known resources, but it doesn’t do hardly any competition analysis. And it doesn’t use research of PageRanks or number of competing backlinks at all. So, no need for software like Market Samurai or Traffic Travis.

Lastly you’ll learn how to apply all these principles and mechanics in your online business, whether you already have a website or not.

I honestly believe this is an outstanding course. The framework is well thought-out, the material covers everything you’ll need and, most important of all, it closely connects to the search engines principles.
You can apply everything immediately in your online business, even in an existing one.

On top of this, the product owner will start webinars soon to show how he’s doing all this.
Unfortunately you have to be fast, because I’ve seen an announcement that this offer will close soon.

My advice is to get in there right now. You can use what you’ll learn to set up a seo business quite easily, as this niche selection method is new and not know to the public.

Conclusion: an excellent and outstanding micro niche finder course!
Check it out right now and let me know what you think of it.

Private blog network sites are among the finest techniques to generate links to your site nowadays.

In order to gain an edge over other marketers in the perpetual pursuit to create one-way backlinks, many website owners have used software programs like XRumer, Scrapebox, and SENuke X over the last a couple of years.

Many use them to offer you cheap backlinks, but I don’t think these link building strategies are as effective as they used to be. Google fights them anyway, because it’s too artificial and so may other search engines.

Because private blog network sites are more SEO friendly (they use parameters to include links in content related text) to the search engines, they are more powerful today.

Maybe that’s why private blog network sites over the last few years have raised in popularity. It’s very likely that there are hundreds of these networks right now. And it’s also very likely that you have never heard of most of them. Yet there are a few networks that are more commonly known.

The significance of these private blog networks is, that you may have 100 to 1000 or more blogs that are only known to the owners and maybe the users of the network.

On top of that, if everything is installed well, in order to make it look as if the blogs are coming from different IP addresses, each blog is setup on separate C class IP addresses. Your host can tell you how to setup your blog like that.

You can have a huge advantage using these networks, since most marketers aren’t going to take the time to setup their own,

Here are the blog networks I know of (some of which I don’t use personally!) and recommend.

Authority Link Network

A huge one with over 5,000 blogs. Depending on the parameters you submit, it starts sending out your spun article to hundreds of blogs.
Depending on the PR of the blog you submit you will receive publishing credits. PR0 blogs are not accepted.

Each article that you submit will be drip-feeded into the system. You’ll get up to 45 backlinks (3 backlinks per article x 15 article posted) for each article that is submitted into the system.
If necessary you can easily buy a PR blog on sites like the Warrior forum, Flippa and Digital Point forums.

Submit your Article

They will publish your article to public directories, so this is not exactly la private blog network, but it uses the same strategies.

Write an article and spin some paragraphs to submit it through the network. You can sign up for $1 to try the system, otherwise it runs for $67 per month.

Build My Rank

Subscribers sign up for an account where they can link up to five different domains for $59 per month on this highly popular blog network.

Each post must be over 150 words (I personally recommend at least 300, preferably 450-500). Per domain you can post up to 10 times per day. Once you’ve submitted your post, it is broadcasted to a random blog on their network, containing pages with a PR 1 to PR 6! This will definitely be beneficial to your rankings in search engines!

The only disadvantage of this network is that writing the posts is time consuming and you cannot send spun content.

Unique Article Wizard

Another familiar blog network established several years ago. The spun article that you submit goes out to thousands of article directories and blogs. This network features unlimited article submissions and runs for $67 per month.

There you have it. Four top private blog network sites.
What do you think? Do you use a service like this?

Recently I tested if buying cheap backlinks (also known as incoming links, inbound links) would be worth the money and efforts in order to improve search engine rankings.

It seems that generating backlinks is the number one search engine optimization strategy, since they give an indication of the importance and authority of a website.

Buying backlinks however is against the search engine policies, because it’s an artificial way to gain better rankings. But since everyone seems to do it, I wanted to test whether it would be worth it.

So, I headed over to sites like Fiverr and ordered three cheap backlinks gigs:
1. Edu blogs backlinks
2. Dofollow backlinks from authority sites
3. High PR Dofollow Blog Comments

Before I go into details, let me emphasize that these guys DO deliver what they promise. So this test ís not a complaint about gigs. It’s about the results of those efforts.

Most of them use cheap backlink software which doesn’t enhance the quality of backlinks, but that’s the way it works if you go cheap.

Also, as I said before, buying backlinks is not a policy that search engines approve of. That’s why I used an old, unused domain for this test, so it wouldn’t harm my premium domains that I cherish.

So, how did that work out? Well…

1. Edu blogs
I got 10 URL’s from Edu blogs where I could publish my own content, including backlinks to my site.
I thought this would be a great service, as I had to publish quality content. Search engines do not object to that. And a link back to my site in the bylines is very common too.

Turned out however, that 6 of the 10 links changed their login procedure after 3 months. I wasn’t able to get back there without showing a physical evidence of being a member and my articles were deleted. Duh!

Still got 4 blogs on an edu domain, but don’t know for how long.
So, although this way of building cheap backlinks is my favorite, it’s unsecure and therefore not reliable for the long term.

2. Dofollow backlinks from authority sites
I got some extra links with my order. They all worked when I got them. The PR varied from 1 to 5, but that was for the domains, not for the pages.
After 2 months, only 35% of them are still alive. The rest has disappeared. Into the blue skies. All efforts to promote 65% of these URL’s were in vain.

3. High PR Dofollow Blog Comments
I ordered 30 cheap backlinks in the form of blog comments.
I checked out only 3 of them and got in a deep rut. Hundreds and hundreds of links on the same page and the anchor texts there clearly showed you don’t want to be part of it. Gambling, porn, casino’s, you name it.
I stopped checking. Spam all over the place.

Conclusion of this test: cheap backlinks aren’t worth the money, time and efforts. None of the links I got did show up in the search engines until now, 3 months or more after ordering them.

There are far better ways to build backlinks. A great explanation can be found at Link Building 101

So, what’s your take on cheap backlinks?

I had high hopes for my website when I put it up in 2009. Like every newbie webmaster, I spent a lot of time carefully constructing my site and making sure that the elements would work.

I didn’t know much about search engine optimization then, but because I wanted my website to take off, I took time to learn more about SEO. I was overwhelmed at first. There are so many different elements that go into proper SEO. Three years later, I’m still learning more about it each day. In the end, I have redirected my attention to this craft.

Now that I know more, I can look back at my first attempt and point out the mistakes I made. I’ve come to learn that those mistakes are ones frequently encountered by most new webmasters.

The first error is putting too much focus on content and web design. Don’t get me wrong, these elements are important. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to this simple fact: what good is content when nobody is around to see it? This is why web promotion is important.

Back then, social sharing over the internet was already beginning to make waves. Today, it’s one of the most effective ways of promoting a website. But important as it may be, it isn’t the only aspect of web promotion.

More than just social sharing, employing the right web promotion strategies bring in sales. This is what drove me to learn more about SEO. In order to be successful, SEO and proper link building is necessary; with emphasis on the word ‘proper’.

It’s easy to accept the notion that a link is a link and it’s just that. In the SEO world, however, link quality matters. It’s the most important factor in determining how high a website ranks. To drive this point home further, it’s important to rank on a search engine because it’s the cheapest form of promotion.

Times have changed and strategies have shifted to a new direction. Due to Google’s major updates, the SEO world has changed. This year in particular, the changes have been cataclysmic. As a result, previously loved and tested SEO strategies are slowly becoming archaic and some, obsolete.

Back to the basics – On-Page Optimization
For years, many optimizers adhered to black hat methods -gaming Google using shady technical tricks- which made optimizing websites a thing of the past. That is, until the major updates came.
In its simplest definition, on-page optimization makes site architecture search engine-friendly. When a website has quality and up-to-date content, it reflects on their meta-data. Thus, spider crawling is made easier, and in return, the page ranks high.

Revamping Techniques – Contextual Comments vs Link Spam
Like we discussed previously, the earlier days of SEO adhered to the mantra ‘a link is a link is a link’ but those days are long gone. Back then, SEOs took advantage of and made use of every website they could put a link on. As a result, unsuspecting blogs and various web directories were highly susceptible to comment spam.

‘Buy viagra’, ‘blackjacks’, ‘air jordans’ are among the countless ‘spammy’ terms that were automatically submitted through paid software (or worse, sold as services). These terms easily mined backlinks on a single click. But weren’t anywhere near organic, nor were they placed in decent contextual blogs.

Thanks to anti-spamming plug-ins such as Akismet, comments and IPs were highly-filtered. Similar plug-ins proliferated; but the changes in search algorithms, resulting in diminishing returns, ultimately prompted blackhat purists to abandon comment spamming.

Consequently, tactics were changed from high-quantity backlinks to a select few high-quality ones. These links aren’t generic spun comments going through hundreds of revisions, but are actual persons communicating and contributing to conversations. Not only does this help in link building, it also contributes in enhancing a website’s reputation.

Social Media Campaigns
I talked about my attempt to make the most out of social media platforms earlier. I wasn’t quite as successful as I had hoped because as it turns out, I wasn’t doing it right.

All I really had then was a Facebook page, and of course, having one back then didn’t really mean that much. In 2010, Facebook introduced the concept of ‘Like’. As you probably know, this revolutionized the way business is done via social networking. Social media has made reaching a target market much easier. But it’s important to point out that the proper handling of different networks is the key to identifying and reaching potential prospects. It not only drives referral traffic, it also contributes to a business’s reputation.

SEO is a field that continues to grow, with search engines developing their algorithms on a regular basis. In turn, SEO services continue to develop and expand as well. While this is the case, only one thing is certain: the use of white label SEO strategies is the driving factor for the success of every website.

Link building is a hot item these days. That’s because it could improve your rankings in the search engines, when done right.

That’s why everybody is trying to get external links to their websites. The downside is, that it takes a while to build them organically. That’s why lots of people outsource this tedious jobs.

The question that arises now is: which one is better, organic or paid?
In today’s guest post, Melanie Slaugh, a freelance writer, covers the basics about that topic.

Here goes. Enjoy!

Organic Link Building vs. Paid Link Building

Building links is probably one of the most effective ways to market your website over the internet. And with good reason, your links are continually exposed to new audiences, giving you the momentum to move forward and gain speed – assuming you have a product of value for your readers.

So what’s the difference between organic link building and paid link building – and is one better than the other?

Organic Link Building

What it is: Organic link building is the process of submitting quality content to other websites. In turn, they award you with a link to your website on their own, thus exposing their traffic to you.

How it works: Usually done in the form of guest posts on other blogs, you submit a quality post to another webmaster in exchange for them linking to you. It’s a win-win situation for everyone because you get a link to your website and a wider range of exposure and they get solid content for their website, which in term helps them become more useful to their readers.

Pros: Receiving backlinks to your website organically is going to get you a higher page rank than paid link building. This means that people will be able to find you more easily when they conduct searches online. You also have the unique opportunity to build relationships with other webmasters by giving them quality content.

Cons: Building your links organically takes a lot of time. You can’t expect to get a high page rank over night, but instead need to go into it realizing that you have to build them slowly and purposefully.

Paid Link Building

What it is: In short, paid link building is where you pay someone else to place your link on their website.

How it works: You can either use a paid link building service or seek out those who will accept money in exchange for putting up a link. Usually the fee is a monthly fee to keep your link live on their site.

Pros: Paid link building is something that you can do to quickly launch your website up through the links. You don’t have to produce anything other than money to get it up and in place.

Cons: This practice is severely frowned upon by search engines like Google. In fact, they can kill off your website in rankings if they find out that you’re engaging in these practices.

The Consensus
Organic link building takes more time, but overall is the safest way to legitimately build up your website. Even though you may get an immediate boost from paid link building, the fact that it can ultimately be detrimental to your website should be reason enough not to go down that path. So when you’re marketing your website and your brand, stick to organic link building.

Melanie is a freelance writer. She writes extensively for internet service providers. Check out Melanie Slaugh‘s profile.

So far Melanie with the basics.
I fully agree with her conclusions. I’ve experimented on a low scale with paid links and my conclusion is that they don’t work on the long run.

Still, there are many more ways to generate backlinks.
There’s article marketing (not as good as it used to be) to begin with.
You could leave high quality comments (generates traffic too!) on forums and blogs (like this one!) and use social media. If you’re interested, download a copy of Social Backlinking Blueprint.

And tell us what you use to build your links.

Every website owner wants to be on top of Google and stay there. Yet there are only 10 places at the top for each keyword or keyphrase. So how do you get there and, more importantly, how to stay there.

Ryan Tomlinson of Business Web Presence Optimization Strategies has a few tips in today’s guest post. They may sound obvious, but are very important. And I’ll add a great content optimization tip for everyone using WordPress.

Here goes.
Enjoy!

Staying on top of Google

It has always been a challenge for SEO experts to stay on top of Google and their ever-changing algorithm. Long gone are the days of adding keywords and backlinks to quickly get on top of search engine results.

In a recent Google court case about Google’s business practices Eric Schmidt released some shocking inside information to Google’s algorithm. Google uses both human review and internal analysis to develop what amounted to more than 500 algorithmic changes in 2010.

If that was not enough Google had made 13,311 precision evaluations. Google tested every evaluation to on a real human panel that included 8000 side by side experiments and 2,800 click evaluations. After human testing concluded, Google implemented 516 new changes.

As an SEO expert I have always known Google had been tweaking their algorithm but would have never guessed it was to this extent. This breaking news, interesting as it maybe has not helped SEO strategies. It is still anyone’s guess to how many variables Google looks at with their algorithm. Many experts on the subject estimate there are at least 1200 algorithm aspects Google checks.

We will never know what Google looks for in a site to rank well, we can only assume and make educated guesses by testing and reading in between the lines of Google press releases.

My first tip to new webmasters looking to increase their sites SEO value is to signup to Google Webmaster tools. They will give you every error that the Google bot has had when crawling your site. Fix them!

Once your site is cleared by Google Webmaster tools you can then go on to other SEO strategies. When my clients ask how to increase their SEO I always suggest optimizing their content first.

Content is the key to success online. You want to have your sites content be relative to the topic and it is a great SEO technique to have keyword density. Keyword density is the practice of adding keywords into your site in main headings, titles and within content. The more keywords you have in your site the better you chances will be for ranking high for those key terms.
Don’t go overboard, there is a fine line from being creative and being spammy.

Once you have optimized content you could move on to link building. Links symbolize trust, the more links you have directed to you site the more authority Google gives your site and pushes your site closer to the top in search results.

The above is just a few beginner strategies to SEO. You can find many more strategies from beginner to advanced within this website.

Written by Ryan Tomlinson, an SEO expert and consultant. You can find more articles on SEO on my Web Presence Optimization site.

In addition to Ryan’s advice, I want to tell you about a great WordPress plugin that I use in order to optimize my content. It’s called WordPress SEO and it written by fellow countryman Yoast ‘the Falcon’.
I could give a description here, but you’d better read the one Yoast created: Content SEO made easier.
Please note, that I also use the breadcrumb that comes with this plugin. It’s serves the readers convenience, but as an extra it mentions my main keyword again!

So, how do you stay on top of Google?

I’ve been performing an occasional webpage speed test on this blog since Google’s announcement about using site speed in web search ranking.

It’s not a high priority, but I want to at least try to stay up to par.

To perform a webpage speed test, I installed Page Speed and YSlow in my Firefox browser (also available for Chrome), I also use Page Speed Online.

The Firefox Page Speed delivers the same overall results as the Page Speed Online. YSlow is a different kind of tool that I use less. Because right now, I’m at the limits of my knowledge about webpage speed tests. Let me explain.

The reports to speed up load time of this site showed quite some improvements at the beginning. I can understand optimizing my graphics (in fact, Page Speed offers you to download these optimized graphics and upload them to your server). Easy.

I also managed to solve problems like
- Minify CSS,
- Enable compression,
- Leverage browser caching,
- Minify HTML and
- Optimize the order of styles and scripts.

But things like
- Defer parsing of JavaScript,
- Specify a cache validator,
- Remove query strings from static resources and
- Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header
are much harder for me to solve.

I don’t know how to cache graphics and js files from other sites, like the ads I’m displaying and the javascript that comes with the snippets to show them. Or other javascript files that I need for my site, like those from Google Analytics.

There’s a lot of general information available on the links mentioned above, but I really would like simple and easy step-by-step instructions on how to implement different optimization methods.

Nevertheless, an online webpage speed test for Affordable Internet marketing results in a score of 93.

I achieved that thanks to the use of a great plugin called W3 Total Cache.
It allowed me to learn a lot about tecnical matters to speed up the loading of web pages. I took little steps to develop my experience with these matters.
Also, this plugin creates an .htaccess file, to be stored in your blog folder, that sets caching conditions to leverage browser caching and enable compression.

Unfortunately, this plugin is so advanced that it exceeds my technical knowledge and it resulted in many 404′s, even in my back office. So I deleted the plugin, not because it’s bad, but it’s too technical for me.

Nevertheless, I kept parts of the .htaccess file that it gereated and together with a new Cache plugin it works fine and results in a webpage speed test score of 93.

Here’s what I have in my htaccess file right now (yes, I know, there’s a way to shorten this code, but I like it the way it is ).
Mind you, if you’re going to apply anything from this file, remember to save your old file so you can put it back in case anything goes wrong!

YSlow finds even more things to optimize, but many of them, too, are beyond my knowledge. I use that one as the next step in my tech experience.

The small optimization step I’m working at right now is creating sprites (combines multiple background images into a single image) using a great site called Sprite Me. My first attempt failed miserably, but I’m ready to try again.

So, that’s how I use a webpage speed test to decrease the load time of my pages.
If you have any comments, additions, resources or remarks, post them below.

How to Set Up SEO on Your Website

Have you seen the word SEO thrown around, but aren’t sure what it means?

SEO stands for search engine optimization.

It’s a way for your potential clients to find you by using keywords. Those same keywords you use in the text on your website. For example, if you are an intellectual property attorney, you want to people to find you when they search for that phrase on Google, Yahoo or Bing.

But, how do you set up your website with SEO?

You’ve seen many articles, blog posts, even tutorials telling you about the term, but none of them tell you how to do it.

That’s why I put together this how-to so you can follow along and finally set up SEO on your website. This is the easiest, free way to set up SEO, no extra software needed.

Make a list of your website pages.

Think about what each page represents whether it’s a product, program or service. Think about how what problem your potential customer wants to solve. Make a list or mind map potential phrases they type into search engines to seek the resolution for their problem. Jot down about five different phrases per page on your website.

Go to Google’s Keyword Tool.

Type one phrase from the list you made into the keyword tool.

Enter the characters to prove you aren’t a bot.

Go to match types on the left hand side of the screen.
Select [Exact] and uncheck broad. You can also select “Phrase.” Broad match returns a search with any of the words used, but doesn’t give the whole context for what the person was searching for. Exact returns a search with the keywords listed just as you use them and phrase has the same keywords, but they aren’t in order.

Click the global monthly searches to arrange the traffic levels from highest to lowest.
Since the aim is to set up SEO to list in the search engines, you want high traffic. You can check competition, but don’t place too much importance on it because if you produce good content, you can rise in the search engines and place on the first page.

Pick up to three keywords with high traffic that describe the page.
If you want to use the rest of the phrases you wrote, enter those in the keyword tool also until you find the right three keywords to use for each webpage.

Use your keywords in the body of your website text.
Use these keywords at least four times or at a density of two percent.

Use the keywords in the title and description.
One good plugin to use is All-In-One to add the keywords to the title and description.

Write your keywords naturally in a short sentence for the title and description.
Alternatively, you can type in the keywords and use the pipe symbol to separate them. If you aren’t sure how to type in the pipe symbol, just press Shift+.

Now that you have your SEO set up for your website, it’ll take about a week or two before you start seeing results.
Tell us how you seo your website in the comments.
We’d love to hear from you.

Anyone can do Search Engine Optimization (SEO) with any website or blog at any time.

But if you’re going to make an SEO attempt, you shouldn’t blindly step into that process.

SEO requires certain skills you must learn first and you should be aware of guidelines and rules to follow when optimizing your website in the search engine world.

The value of your content that you present to your readers and the use of relevant keywords, meta tags and article/post titles are all highly important elements.

But on search engines like Google some SEO mistakes can really lower your rankings.

When you avoid the following five SEO mistakes, you can step-up visitors numbers to your site immensely and thus increase your number of customers, your profits and your business’s success.

<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3157/3053752465_16590088b0.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Avoid SEO mistakes to get customers" / title="Get more customers avoiding these SEO mistakes">

Let’s dive into them:

Poor or even lack of content
Article sites, forums and blog are highly popular these days. That’s because search engines love content. Publishing high quality content on your site adds great value, because the search engines pick up action and additions and send Internet users to you. Therefore the content should be informative, original and be of a high quality just in order to keep these visitors on your site.

Of course you have to apply all search engine optimization techniques for blog posts first.

Using images where words are crucial
Use images instead of titles, text or headings implies that they do not count as keywords and that means you lose the potential of achieving higher rankings for those keywords, thus directing traffic to your site. Search engines, certainly Google, look specifically for titles and headings, so the best places to put keywords would be there. You should definitely use images to make the site interesting, but in less crucial positions.

Over-utilization of keywords
A common and big SEO mistake is overuse of keywords. Stuffing keywords may lead to a drastic fall in search engine rankings. Only use your relevant keywords approximately every 100 words and make sure they feature in your headings, (very importantly) in your links and tags. It helps to have your main key phrase in your URL.

Outdated or old content
Not many webmasters realize that maintaining a successful website takes a lot of work. Search engines will lose interest in your site due to the lack of movement If you
- do not check and alter your content frequently,
- update information about your developments, business and your promotions and
- if you do not add interesting modifications.

Basically the more your website changes, the more it will climb in the search engine ranks.

Not Enough Links and Meta Tags
Meta tags refer to title, description and keyword tags and should be included on every page on your site. If you have a blog, All in One SEO is an outstanding plugin to achieve this, but I prefer Headspace. (Update 11-05: I’ve replaced that one by WordPress SEO; even better!)
Make sure each page revolves around a “theme” or center point and “tag” words that convey this in the best possible way.

Avoiding these five SEO mistakes will make your website search engine “friendly” and will help you optimize your site in the best possible way.

If you’ll be using the WordPress blogging platform for your website then you’ll want to check these videos out which will show you how to properly set up on-site optimization using WordPress.
