If you know how to create article videos, submitting them to YouTube is a very fast and easy way to possibly get on the first page in Google.

Creating article videos is just a matter of converting an article into a video and that process is really pretty simple. It only takes just a few easy steps! Still, not many marketers take advantage of this excellent option, yet with YouTube marketing you can rank quite high for real competitive terms!

Of course the success of using article videos strongly depends on the keywords you are targeting. A lot of them just are too competing.
For many other phrases it might take a little while to get there. If that happens, you should start building a couple of nice links to it, just like you would any other article. In the end, this is a great way to try and get your keyword onto the first page of Google.

To create article videos, you first want to download OpenOffice. This software is completely free and contains a text editor, spreadsheet and presentation manager.
It’s a huge file, but well worth the time to install it on your computer and play with it.

First, we’re going to use OpenOffice Impress to create a presentation of an article. Here’s an outstanding tutorial that shows you how to do that.

Next, experiment with Impress a bit, until you have a professional looking template that is not too fancy. Try to keep it simple, but professional.

Create your presentation by using short sentences or paragraphs in each slide. Leave a lot of space and give the reader time to read the slides.
End with your byline containing a URL for more information. Don’t forget this, as generating traffic is the secondary goal for article videos.

Next, were going to make our article video. I use GFX Video Writer, but you can also download a free program called Jing.

Again, a huge program, but well worth the time to experiment with it. Here’s a great tutorial that shows you how to create article videos.

Once you have Jing installed and running, just play your presentation while Jing is recording. You can make it more professional by clicking the URL in your article that sends you over to your website.

Save that file. You now have a professional YouTube video that you can upload today. Make sure you use your keyword in the YouTube title and description. Be as descriptive as possible.

YouTube videos often rank on the first page of Google, so you should consider YouTube as part of your marketing strategy.

What is described above makes this possible. It just takes some time to get used to both software programs. If you’d rather use an easy to use software that converts articles into videos in just a few clicks check out Instant video articles.

So, that’s how I use article videos to get on the first page of Google.
What’s your take on the topic? Do you use article videos?

An article marketing campaign can be a very effective form of marketing- if it is used properly.
If this form of marketing is not used properly it will only end up wasting your effort and your time.

You can use article marketing to promote your business’s brand and increase the amount of traffic to your website. It can also be used to improve your site’s ranking by the major search engines.

Article directories and websites receive a large amount of online visitors every day. If you are able to connect your website to articles from these directories and are able to offer the reader something of value, then odds are you will vastly increase your website’s online presence.

Here are some tips that can improve your article marketing campaign:

Submit an article to an article directory website that is in-line with your website’s niche.
So, if you own a website that sells gardening supplies, make sure you write an article based on the topic of gardening. This will accomplish several things.

First, the people who want to read an article about gardening are much more likely to want to click on your links and see your gardening website.

Second, you will be filling your article with high quality in-bound links. These are links that are directly related to your niche, which will be more highly valued by search engine algorithms. This will help search engines to rank your website higher on its SERPs.

Use high quality keyword links in your articles.

This will also improve how search engines rank your site. It is a good idea to place these keyword links near the beginning of the text, because it will make it easier for search engine crawlers to locate them.
Google’s free keyword analyzer tool is an easy way to find out which keywords you want to use.

Avoid keyword stuffing at all costs!

Keyword stuffing refers to adding too many keywords and keyword links to your article. This sounds like a great idea because the more links and keywords you have the easier search engines will find your page right?
This is not the case. The major search engines have algorithms designed to locate sites that are considered to be overly promotional and will penalize such sites. So keep your keyword density around 1%-4%. This will help prevent your site and article as being labeled as a “keyword stuffer”.

Make sure that your articles offer something of value to the reader.
Too many article marketers think that simply getting their articles out onto the web and filling them with go-to links will get the job done. It might- but you stand a much better chance of making your article marketing campaign profitable by submitting articles that offer something of value to the reader.

So again, if you want your readers to eventually end up at your gardening website, then offer real and valuable information related to the topic of gardening. This will bring your article more readers and more traffic.

Get good at writing articles!
In order to make your article marketing campaign profitable you want to write up a decent number of high quality articles. This means you will want to get very good at writing your articles and you don’t want to spend too much time doing so.

If you are not great at writing articles you can always hire a copywriter or a ghostwriter. Try Elance if you want to hire a freelance article writer to save you time and effort.

A properly run article marketing campaign can vastly increase your websites SERP ranking and traffic generation. A poorly run article marketing campaign will waste too much of your effort and time.

How do you run an article marketing campaign?

It’s a simple method that anyone can do easily.

Plus article marketing has a few other advantages, yet there are some objections too.

Deborah Dera, a professional freelance writer, has summed them up in a guest post that you’ll find below.
I’ll let her do the talking.
Enjoy!

Driving traffic to your website is crucial to every online marketing strategy. One of the best ways to generate web traffic is by creating numerous links back to your website. Article marketing is a popular method of bringing in new site visitors, but it has its own benefits and drawbacks.

Article Marketing Pros

Almost all websites that publish articles will allow you to place a direct link back to your website either in the body copy or a separate author’s bio section.

Every link you build helps boost your website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and increases your position on Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).

Links on large article directories are usually online for a long time and provide a continual source of traffic to your website.

Writing articles establishes your credibility as an expert. People who enjoy your articles are likely to remember you when they are looking for a service provider in your field.

Articles with your byline help boost your name recognition as well as spread general awareness of your talents and expertise.

Article Marketing Cons

Time spent writing articles takes away from time that you could spend creating content for your website or working on other parts of your marketing strategy.

Writing articles can be intimidating if you do not have a lot of writing experience and although many article directories have a less rigid editorial system than other user-contributed writing sites, many are adopting stricter quality guidelines.

If you don’t write your own articles, hiring ghostwriters can be very costly. You will have to evaluate whether or not the money you are spending on ghostwriters is showing an adequate Return on Invest (ROI).

Article promotion is an entirely different skill set you will have to learn and it is just as time consuming – if not more – than writing articles.

Finding ideas for articles can be difficult and frustrating, especially after you have already written dozens of articles.

Articles on directory sites often generate comments from users. If your article is not well researched or you don’t explain your point well, you can actually harm your professional reputation more than help it.

For most people the pros outweigh the cons, but everyone’s situation is unique.
You have to consider your own strength and weaknesses before you decide if article writing is a good marketing strategy for you.

If you are not comfortable expressing yourself in writing, or have poor grammar, there are better ways to build links and market your business online than article writing.

It is also important to realize that article writing is just as time consuming as creating content for your website. Good time management is essential. If you spend so much time writing articles that you are not creating quality content for your website, your marketing efforts will be in vain.

Deborah Dera is a professional freelance writer specializing in personal finance, bankruptcy, car insurance, blogging, writing, search engine optimization, and much more. She is the founder of Write on the Edge and offers unique content creation solutions to businesses looking to enhance their online brands.

If you create online content, your writing voice is one of your most important assets.

Because it stimulates your readers to continue reading as they like what they see.

A writing voice may be defined as a way of writing that communicates a unique and distinctive personality.

You know, the sort of writing that you are dying to read and desire to receive.

That is in sharp contrast with the tremendous amount of content that is solely based on keywords or even automated content, generated or spinned by software. The purpose of such content is simply and solely based on playing the seo game.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with keyword research to enhance the chance of getting ranked high in the search engines and adding these keywords to your content. That’s what I always do when writing content.

And I occasionally DO use other peoples content (in the form of Private Label rights) to get ideas and write my content, but I always REWRITE it in my own voice.

I may not have that much of a writing voice, but at least it’s my own.

In most of my writing, I’m using my own words to express my personal experiences.
And I often try to add something valuable -whether paid or free- that my readers can get and implement right away to improve their business, even if it’s just a tiny bit.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do here.
Read on, it gets interesting now.

Article marketing is one of the simplest and most effortless ways of generating both traffic and backlinks to a site.

That’s probably why so many beginning internet marketers start out using article marketing.

And since everyone and her dog is using this traffic generation strategy, you can easily be inclined to disregard article marketing as completely outdated and totally over-saturated.

Leading to the conclusion, that article marketing no longer works.

Big mistake!
It only means is that you need to step up our game.

If you’ve ever done article marketing before, you already know that the most crucial element of your article is your author resource box – apart from the headline that is -.

Now, let’s try to boost your article marketing campaigns.
Fire up your neurons, cause I want to take you through a fast three question multiple choice test about integrating massively powerful resource boxes into them.

1. What’s the most important element you must consider when writing your resource box?

a) Your readers are too busy to read them
b) No one is interested in reading resource boxes
c) Nobody cares about you or your business.

The correct answer here is c, nobody cares about you or your business.

Although this may sound harsh, it’s very true.
The only thing other people are interested in is… WIIFM or “What’s In It For Me?” and nothing else. Therefore, you should always talk about the interests of your visitors during a conversation instead of talking about yourself.

Since your article is nothing else but a conversation, so this also applies to resource boxes.

Be assured that while reading your article, your reader doesn’t care about you at that time. The only reason she clicked your promising article headline in the first place was, she thought that in some way your valuable content might be able to improve HER life.

Do you recognize article resource boxes that kind of look like this:

“Lucky Luke manages to stay fit and for the last 5 years he helps others to do the same, and he has a website at…”

Who cares? The resource box isn’t the place to focus on your life!

While writing your resource box, you MUST put yourself in the mind of your readers. Only if you promise them something to improves their life, they may click on your bio box.

2. What should your resource box be centered around?

a) Benefits to the reader
b) Your credibility
c) The problems your readers face.

Of course the correct answer here is a: benefits to the reader.

Your readers are looking for a solution to their problems. Therefore, make it VERY clear HOW they will benefit from clicking your resource box link.

Take a look at the two following examples:

“For more dog training advice, click here.”

“Discover how to educate your dog to know and obey the words “sit” and “stay” in three days”

Based on the benefits these boxes promise, which one would YOU click on?

3. You should always _________ your resource box with your article.

a) Separate
b) Blend
c) Mix

The correct answer here is b.
Adding a resource box to your articles that blend in very well will boost your click-through rates, while a disjointed resource box will decrease CTR.

So… how did you do on this quiz?

The take away from this article should be that:
- nobody cares about you or your business,
- you should definitely focus on your reader’s benefits and
- to blend your resource box in with your article.

Very simple tips to execute, so apply them in your next article marketing campaigns and watch your resource box CTR’s skyrocket!

If you have read the Internet marketing Funnel System, you realize at some point it will be more effective to outsource parts of your work, as it is more economical.

Outsourcing the writing you have to do is often a good option. This is especially true if you aren’t a particularly strong writer. However, it can be difficult to find a good writer.

So here are 3 tips to find the perfect ghost writer.

Look for Writers on Forums
Honestly, this is where I found the best ghost writers. I even found great writers, who, in addition to writing an outstanding article, also handled the submission to hundreds of services. At bottom prices!

Many online marketers have the impression the best places to find ghost writers are the freelancing sites. While you can find a great one there, most of them are cheap writers who’s first language often is not the one you require. There are a lot of botchers. Your job on these sites is to find the good ones. Not easy.

Therefore, if you want a good ghost writer, certainly in Internet marketing, but also in many great niches, start your search on an Internet Marketing forum.

You can find many if you keep your eyes open and scan the (special writing) threads. Some are Internet Marketers who just want a little extra income and others are writers trying to find writing gigs. A lot of them are at the start of a writing business and have to establish themselves. Reason why they sometimes have great special offers.

Either way, there are a lot of talented writers on these forums and you should be able to find a few without any problem.

Get Writing Samples
Naturally finding a ghost writer on a forum is just the start. You definitely want to see some samples before actually hiring one. If you don’t see samples, just ask for them. Be sure you get at least two.

Of course you want to look for perfect grammar, spelling and punctuation. But you also want the writer’s style to fit in perfectly in with what you want to achieve. While reading the samples you have to make sure the text flows well and the overall style and voice is what you are looking for.

By the way, samples should show the writer’s ‘best’ work, so it would be foolish to hire a ghost writer if you find any mistakes in her samples.

Watch the Overall Communication
Pay close attention to all communication with your potential ghost writer. Carefully read all the emails that she sends to you. They should be without error, clear and concise. If not, their work won’t be either.

For the same reason you also want to pay attention to the writer’s forum posts to see if they are full of errors. It should raise a red flag if there are any or when a potential ghost writer isn’t able to clearly explain the topic on hand. Of course this has nothing to do with the opinion expressed. You may or may not agree with that, the important point here is that your potential ghost writer must be able to express herself very well.

Keeping a close eye for writers on Internet Marketing forums, getting samples, and paying attention to all communication are the three most important tips for finding the perfect ghost writer. Following them enables you to find one in no time.

In the past, I have found people like Eric Louviere, Beverly Clement and Tiffany Dow this way. (NOTE May 2011: Recently Beverly Clement has passed away due to pancreatic cancer. I don’t know if Rob, her husband, will keep her site open, so you just have to try.)
By the way, you don’t have to check these people out. Eric now is a great sales copywriter and Beverly and Tiffany have already proven themselves to be perfect ghost writers too.

If you’re like me and rather write your own articles, then a great tool to rewrite articles is Wordflood.

If are concerned about the time it takes to write your own articles, you can try Jonathan Leger’s Instant Article Wizard. It’s an easy to use software that will help you to write quality articles fast.

So, what’s your take?
How do you find great ghost writers?

Last week, Mark McCullagh from NewSuccessOnline made an interesting comment about the effective use of resource boxes when submitting articles.

His comment referred to the policy change regarding the number of links that are allowed in the body of your articles at EzineArticles in 6 Great Free Resources.

Allowing less links in the body of your articles not only may improve the quality of the content, but also means that your resource box is gaining importance to entice readers to follow up on your messages. It’s kind of a one-shot gun.

I wrote about using resource boxes before in Your Article Resource Box – How To Maximize Its Use, but I challenged Mark to write a guest post about it.

How To Write a Resource Box to Optimize Your Article Marketing Strategy.

A well-written resource box is one of the key strategies in article marketing.

The resource box allows you to:
a. create a “call to action” to drive traffic to a website or sales page
b. create backlinks for SEO

The first important aspect of the resource box is that it should flow naturally from the article itself. In other words, it should be very relevant to the article.

Here is a simple 4 step process to create an article and resource box that flow smoothly and optimize your results.

1. Research your niche.

Your content must provide readers with:

a cure for their pain

an answer to a common question

a solution to a problem

some form of pleasure

The bottom line here is to put yourself in your readers’ shoes (or mind).

2. Keyword research.

Once you have established a topic, do some research to establish the keyword phrase that your reader would most likely type in the search box on Google when looking for information.

Note the following:

that there is sufficient volume for the keyword phrase

who ranks highly for that phrase and what they are saying/doing

Long-tail keywords are usually your best choice.

3. Write the article.

use your keyword phrase in the headline and in the first sentence

address 3 to 5 points from step #1

4. Write the resource box.

use the keyword phrase you are targeting as anchor text

one link to your sales page

one link to your main website or blog

include a call to action

The important point to keep in mind here is that the links should be very relevant to the content of the article.

Let’s look at a practical example:

Niche: golf
Keyword phrase: “hit longer drives”

An article has been written describing 5 ways you can hit longer drives.

This has created interest in the reader, they want to find out more, so the resource box will look like this:

Gary Fairway makes it easy to learn how to [hit longer drives] with his step-by-step videos available free on his [Golf Tips] website.

Here, “hit longer drives” is anchor text linking back to a page that offers ONLY what it has described: videos on driving a golf ball.

This will help the “Golf Tips” site rank higher in the SERPs for the search phrase “hit longer drives.

Takeaways

Avoid weak resource boxes.

A mistake I see many people make is writing like this:
“Gary Fairway writes about golf on his GolfTips site”

This accomplishes nothing.

Your resource box is an opportunity to sell yourself.

So get creative:

write articles that create interest/curiosity

invite the reader to find out more

send them to your sales page/opt-in page etc.

use anchor text for your targeted keyword phrase

I’ve written about article writing many times. Just click the ‘Valuable Articles/Tutorials’ link right above here to check it out. These posts are meant to get you going setting up your own article marketing campaign.

Still, many people do not grasp the sheer impact that article marketing can have in their overall Internet marketing efforts. Why?

Because they just don’t realize that each and every day, thousands and thousands of people are desperately searching for high quality information that they can use on their sites and blogs to present to their readers.
YOUR articles can very well serve as a supply to this HUGE demand for great quality content.

Your articles can be picked up by this market when you distribute them to newsletter directories, individual publishers, blog owners and anyone else looking for content.
Since, in general (unless you specify otherwise), the condition applies that the article is not altered at any rate and, above all, the original resource box is retained at the bottom, article marketing can be a great tool to generate traffic to your site.

Thus you can use article marketing to brand yourself as the expert in your niche, sell your own or affiliate products and collect email addresses so that you can start an email marketing campaign with further information and offers.
As an -important- side effect, article marketing builds one-way back links to your site.

Another, very important effect of article marketing is, that if you provide great and valuable information within your articles, everyone who clicks on your resource box to learn more, is a TARGETED visitor!
I hope you know what to do with that!

A lot of marketers are influenced by duplicate content comments, stating article marketing is not as hard-hitting as it once was. That’s great, because the more people believe article marketing does not work, the less competition there is for people like you and me.
Because… it still is effective, VERY effective indeed.

Article marketing basically is free, unless you hire ghost writers and use paid submission services. Just write your own articles and submit them to the article directories by hand.
If you get the hang of it, I suggest you use Isnare to have them distribute your articles. It’s one of the best I found on the Net.

Your Resource Box is the primary reason for you to write and publish articles! Because, in there, you can put a call to action to whatever you want your readers to do.

In the previous posts, we have discovered how to write and publish articles and how new and knew generates website traffic.
The end of your article should transition smoothly right into the resource box. That box should present itself as the next logical step.

Consider this strategy and test it: contribute your most beneficial tip at the closing of your article and offer your second best tip at the beginning.
This is in contrast to a sales letter, where we typically kickoff with our strongest benefit and work our way down to the lesser ones.
In an article, you may want that big blast near the end, just before your readers are funneled into your resource box. Besides, your final tip can carry the biggest weight if you lead up to it, by making all earlier tips hinging upon the last one, and by indicating the final tip to come.

Chances are, you want your readers to take a specific action, so your resource box should hint at more information to be found on the topic. Therefore, rather than sending them to your website, you want to send your readers to a special (landing) page containing specific info about the issue.

Tell them to do so! Create a specific call to action.
Tell your readers how to solve that problem, how to relieve the pain, how to get more of what they desperately want, how they can reduce the risks they take. In short, tell them where they can find the solution for all the problems described in your article.

Similar to what you do with your article title and the headline on your landing page, your resource box must express anticipation, desire, urgency, curiosity, and/or other emotional hot buttons.

To entice them, you can consider using an “ethical bribe”. Just like you need a premium to get them to opt in to your list, you also may need one to get them to your landing page in the first place. Test to discover what works best.

In the end, like your title, where the goal is to have your article read, your resource box must get your readers to visit your special landing page. Not tomorrow or next week – NOW!

And similar to the relation between a Google Adwords ad camaign and your landing page headline, so must your resource box match with the headline on your landing page. Think about it. If your resource box looked like the following:

About the Author
Jane Tough is a certified massage therapist, consultant, speaker and author. Watch her stress reducing monthly workshop on video. Jane is giving free access to her private site, but exclusively while charter memberships last. Join today at http://JanesToughMassages.com…

…your landing page headline should tie into that offer. Maybe:

“Jump to the Head of the Line and Get FREE Access
To Jane Doe’s Private Membership Forum… Before
All Charter Memberships are Gone”

Or something like that. I just made that up, but you get the idea.

Remember, everything in your article is designed to funnel them to go to your landing page mentioned in your resource box.

Tell them EXACTLY what to do next: click, subscribe/order/download, whatever you want them to do and tell them to do it right NOW!

Here’s an extra, powerful tip: if your smart, if you’re really smart, everything at your landing page is premeditated to get them to subscribe to your list. Because you can communicate with them over and over again if they are on your list! So it’s a two-step process, two incentives: one to get them to go to your landing page and another one to get them to subscribe.

Finally, when done with all that, leverage your article wherever possible. You definitely want that article reused as much as possible all over the Internet (and off line as well).

Post it in the article directories.

Post it on all relevant forums.

Submit it to search engines.

Post it on your blog.

Post it on your website.

Encourage others to publish it in their ezines.

Include your article in viral ebooks to be passed around the web.

Offer your article as a premium report for other people’s products. Expand on the article, if necessary, to make it a content-packed report.

Offer it for others to use on their content sites (e.g. Adwords), membership sites, as part of a mini-course, anywhere your target market will be exposed to it.

Offer it to your affiliates.

Worried about duplicate content? There IS a nice and rather cheap piece of software, the only one that I can recommend, that allows you to easily rewrite articles and PLR content.

Sooooo…. did I forget anything?
Do you have something to add?

Here are some examples. Note how you will want to quantify as much as possible:

Well, you got the picture. Just to illustrate how it works.
I’m not a copywriter, so there are much better examples available. Here’s a great selection:
Note: If you’re really interested in copy writing and headlines, you also sign up for the newsletters or feeds at the resources below.

How to Write Magnetic Headlines. Brian Clark shows he’s a master at this.

Write Magnetic Headlines With These 7 Tips by another copy writing master, Michel Fortin.

Bencivenga Bullets, more specifically bullet 25, but you have to sign up here to read them. Please, do yourself that favor, it’s a goldmine!

One final remark about titles: when somebody is surfing an article directory, they’re coming across your article title alongside lots of others.
It’s rather like the Yellow Pages, one of the most competitive places to advertise. Why? Because your prospects see your advertisements right beside your rivals’.
You absolutely NEED to surpass the clutter. Your title should be about your prospect’s wants, needs and desires. It had better be about the individual reading the article, not the article itself.

This gets even more vital when a newsletter publisher searching for content is surfing an article directory. After all, which do you believe will fetch you more exposure: a reader surfing articles or a publisher with a subscriber list of 100,000 who releases your article?

Here’s an example how to attract special attention: Why ‘New’ and ‘Knew’ Create Intensely Powerful Headlines. I used this for the title of this post.
Try this yourself, it’s a great example of ‘thinking outside the box’.

Ok, on with our article.

Your first paragraph has the function to keep your visitors reading. Your opening paragraph draws them into the main body of your article, so you make it intriguing and some kind of an extension of your title.

A few effective ways to keep that attention going are to:

- Ask a question
- Paint an emotional picture
- Present an overview
- Set the stage with a story, anecdote, or quote
- Present a problem
- Reveal an interesting or startling fact

Apply tested formulas. As in a sales letter, tested formulas boost readership and reaction to articles too.
Like:

Before and After – I was poor, now I’m rich. I was a hack, now I’m a scratch golfer. I was fat, now I’m thin.

Frequently asked questions – Include some great ones, but leave some out to be placed on your website. Be sure to let them know in your resource box at the end of the article that there are more at your site.

Problem-Agitate-Solution – You present a problem, then agitate it further. Finally the solution is hinted at towards the end of the article (with an incentive for them to go to your website to get the full picture).

Useful, but Incomplete – Give just enough information to entice them, but leave them wanting more (which your website will provide).

Establish yourself as the authority, but don’t be patronising. You want to come across as an expert on the theme, without being a “know-it-all” or self-important. Don’t forget these are real people reading your article and they can smell from a distance if you’re arrogant or superior.

NEVER ever underestimate the intelligence of your readers.
If you appall them, you’ve lost them. Of course the same applies to tasteless or offensive remarks. When in doubt, leave them out.

Ok, let’s stop here and save the article resource box for the next message.

Meanwhile, post your comments here.
Did I forget some things that are important to you?
Let me know what you’re thinking.
