The main reason to have a blog though is to build your list. I find that so many blogs do not have a capture page or opt-in form. If you want to be able to drive traffic to your site though you do need to have three main static pages with your "keyword phase" with your backlink going to one of those pages. Don't just send backlink back to your domain as it's a waste of time. A blog is essential for all sorts of businesses. The main reason to have a blog though is to build your list. How about that? Most people find it easier to create posts on a blog than real HTML pages, which explains the blog popularity.
