So, you have a blog and you write in it but you have seen no results?

This is a common problem among millions of bloggers. Some people don’t mind though because they are not trying to make money from their blog. It is those that are trying to make money online that get frustrated. In order to make money from a blog you need traffic.

Here are some tips to get tons of traffic to your blog so you can make some online money.

1. Make a quality post to your blog every day.
Why would people keep visiting a blog if nothing ever changes and there is no new information on it? They wouldn’t.

2. Join in conversation on other blogs.
Leave useful comments and link back to your blog. Of course, do this in a category that is related to your blog.

3. Let your readers post comments on your posts.
Not only will this create more traffic but you will learn about your writing and what your readers are looking for. If you give your readers what they want they will keep coming back to your blog for a long time.

4. Find forums that are related to your blog topic.
Make a link in your signature file that points back to your blog. Give something away to people who visit your blog. This will make people more willing to click on your blog link.

5. Submit articles about your blog.
Article marketing is very effective. In the resource box of your article include a link back to your blog. The more articles you write the more traffic you will get.

The best thing you can do is have a plan.
For example, comment on 5 blogs per day. Write 10 articles per day. Participate and make 5 posts in forums each day. That should take you about 1-2 hours per day and will get you some very good traffic.

Here is my favorite tip:

6. Capture email addresses.
Here is why this will get you more traffic. Once you have someones email address you can have pre written autoresponder messages loaded. Now that you have their information you can email them anytime you want.

I know that when I send an email to my list I get at least 500 clicks or more because people are interested in what I have to say. It doesn’t take long to start building a list and if you are not then you are missing out on huge traffic and money.

If you do nothing else then at least start building a list of subscribers. No matter what your niche is, it is very profitable to have a list of people who show an interested in what you are selling.

  1. “The best thing you can do is have a plan.”

For me, that is the critical aspect. If I know what I am planning to do each week and day, I get so much more complete.

Not too sure about “comment on 5 blogs per day. Write 10 articles per day. Participate and make 5 posts in forums each day. That should take you about 1-2 hours per day”

Writing one blog post can take me an hour!

      Hi Andrew,
Writing a blog post often takes me several hours.
You can change the numbers and frequency, point is that you just got to add activities like these to your schedule.

    • Great breakdown of the basics of blog marketing! It’s pretty amazing the kind of results you can yield just by following easy advice like these. It’s opened up a whole new world of marketing for us!

  2. Review Unit says:

Add? With the mentioned title, i expected a HOTTER article…But useful piece of info.

  3. This is a good list of basics every marketer should know.

But when I visit some blogs I see that some blogger ignores these basics. Very sad!

  4. Great tips! I agree with them all.. except I do have something to add to the last one.

I have built myself up an email list of people that visit my blog, meaning, they are people that want to make money online. The list is possibly over 500 people long.. I’ve never actually counted it..

However, I hardly ever send them emails.. because I don’t want to seem like a spammer. I only remember sending them 1 email ever, about a new MMO program I found that was free to join. Most of them replied and said they appreciated it.. but I guess my question is, where do you draw the line?

How many emails are too much to send to your email list?

Thanks for any kind of response and keep up the good work. :)

    • Case Stevens says:

There are no golden rules as to where to draw the line, but…

      …2 important rules apply:

      1. Your messages should stick to the topic they gave you permission for and…
      2. Send them interesting information. If you get feedback like you mentioned, you’re on the right track.

In general, you can pick any frequency, just keep an eye on the unsubscribes. Where do they do that and, more importantly, why?

  5. Writing 10 articles daily and making at least 5 blog posts daily will take the beginner more than 1 to 2 hours. Newbies have to discover writing. They don’t necessarily like writing so much at first.

    • Case Stevens says:

You can change the numbers and frequency to whatever you like or suits you, just keep the activity on your schedule.

  6. Point 1 & 2 is very important to get known in the blogger community. Well a blog post every 2 or 3 days is enough though. But more is always better;)

I am doing article marketing for about 2 weeks now and getting really positiv results from it.

    • Case Stevens says:

In my experience, if you’re just starting, 1 blog post per day (or even 2 sometimes) is important to get noticed by both readers and search engines.
Once you got their attention, you can decrease that number.

  7. Thanks for the great article… I have been looking for the ways on how to earn and monetize my blog..

Blogging has been a passion and a great hobby for me for the last one year. My blog has generated great user appreciation and recently, the idea of monetizing the blog strucked….

Your post really helped me in understanding the tits and bits of internet businees and earn via my blog

  8. For number four, about find related forum. It is hard to find related forum that allow doFollow signature. Also I already join some forums discussion but I don’t seen any good result. I mean when I track my backlink, I don’t see any backlink from forum I joined.

About finding a forum that`s in the same niche; I think someone here misunderstood that one. I believe that the point is not to get a dofollow link, but to actually become a part of the forum society. Having the link as your signature when posting in the different threads will have your link spread all over the place, people will click it, and you will get traffic. Doesn`t matter if it`s nofollow.

Thanks for posting Bryan’s info and I agree with everything that he says ( I suck at capturing emails, though, LOL ). But, wouldn’t blog posts and blogs produce better results if their content/articles are targeted toward subjects that are popular but have less competition? I believe that is the basis for any blog and builds credibility and authority for the author.

Regarding Number 5, given the fact that Ezine is now actively removing spun articles, derivative content etc. (long overdue I might add) that becomes even more important as it relates to creating original content.

    Thanks!

  13. Thats a great info, well having a blog is really good where people can speak about, but well, this can be turned into a MONEY MAKING machine…hmmm yep this can be done. Sprinkle your blog with the info mentioned in the article, you surely can make some money.

Once again thanks for the great information.

  14. Bean Bags says:

    Hi

I agree with all your points but even have an additional suggestion. Depending on the market you are in you should try and get some of your clients to post to your blog.

Coming up with fresh new content about uninteresting topics can be difficult. I recommended to a friend who is in teh wedding car business to get the brides to post to his blog and it has worked great.

I think there is one real way to make money from a blog and that is by building links in order drive search traffic to your pages. Writing content is obviously key but with out the links your not going to make any real money.

  16. I together with my friends I run about 25 blogs, we have been testing, stuff like frequency of posting and lost of different side bar content to see, what really makes a difference.

Here some of the stuff we discovered

On a blog related to travel, what makes the most impact is the quality of the post, meaning the more details / valuable information, the higher the post get rank and the more visitors you get, we assume the reason is, that when people look for travel stuff, they mainly do that in relation to their yearly vacation which is once a year or few times a year, so here they need the best information not necessary the most frequently updated information.

On blogs related to Recipes and mobile phone, frequency is the thing which matters, the more often you post, the more followers you generate.

We are currently testing a news blog, we are not posting everyday, but we try to give more background information on each story, this seam to generate quite a few followers.

  17. Hi Case,

I will, we also have few other interesting tests going, among others something related to images on the blogs. I will get back with more information, when we have some solid results

  18. I never care to much about the topics about “making money online”. They all sounds like scams. The more they try to convince you what “a huge opportunity” you have, and “how lucky you are” finding that page, the bigger the scam is.

The only way of success into an online business is to sell something people need and have a high traffic to your website.
