Why You Need A Business Marketing System (2)

Why You Need A Business Marketing System (2)

In the previous post, I asked why you need a marketing system and I ended that with a little story. An analogy that can be applied to your business as well.

Because…

You will NOT be able to stay focused on your business and achieving your goals, when you constantly spend all your time and money chasing the next greatest thing. And never forget, that your online presence IS a business.

Yes, some techniques may work for you. It’s just not an economical use of your time and resources.

IF however, you have a method, plan or better, a marketing business system in place, you’re better focused and positioned to grow your business over both the short and long term.
That lady climbing the mountain at a slow pace used a system, simple as it was.

Even if every method you tried turned out to be a success, you still need some kind of business system to tie it all together. It doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, some of the best systems are fairly straightforward. It just has to be consistent and proven.

You’ll need a high quality business system that

  • will keep every day tasks from falling through the cracks
  • can let in every new, successfully tested strategy with the confidence that it will run with everything else already in place and increase the ROI (return on investment) of your system even further, meaning..
whilst you start the ascent to the mountain top for the second system, the first one still is on its way up at the exact right pace. Now you have two guides walking the mountain,
  • removes you from the time-consuming operations tasks and allows you to concentrate on growing your business
  • lets your business run like clockwork, so you are able to spend more time with your family or doing the activities you enjoy,
  • once optimized, your system utilized to new/other business ventures, expecting the same kind of success as your master “seed” system,
  • can be tailor-made to the demands of your business. The best systems are flexible. They allow you to accommodate whatever facet of your marketing and any alterations in your market or industry trends.

All it takes for you then is to concentrate all your attention to that system. It’s as easy as that.

If you’re the one who brings in the money, then that’s what you need to be doing. Every hour you spend coping with operations issues like repairing the copier or the phones is an hour that robs you twice: that hour is gone, and you’ve spent an hour less bringing in the dough.

A great marketing system relieves you from the long operations tasks and lets you focus on thriving your business.

Now, let’s stop and concentrate for a minute about how much your time is worth. You actually do need to look at your income and break it down to an hourly rate.

Here’s what each hour is worth to you now:

Your Desired Weekly Income

and…

Your Desired Hourly Worth

…because you have to plan for your goals, not what you’re achieving now.

Therefore whatever task that does not bring in your hourly rate (at a minimum) had better be outsourced for cheaper. In the end that will eventually apply to any task that does not bring in you your desired hourly rate.

By putting a business marketing system in place, you will be able to focus on those activities that will earn you at least your desired hourly rate, while leaving other tasks to your employees or outsourced help.

Ok, that’s it for today, but stay tuned, because in the next post we will talk about Your Marketing Umbrella And How It Influences Everything.

Meanwhile post your comments below.

This is the very reason why it never makes sense for me to spend countless of hours on twitter, facebook and most of the social bookmarking sites as far as the business worth is concerned for my particular niche.

Using your formula above in combination with site tracking tools, then a lot of the marketing madness that I see people chasing, praising and advocating like crazy only leaves a lot to be desired!

This is a hell heck of a post. Thank you.

This makes so much sense to me and reinforces what I’ve been telling myself.

No one can participate in all online marketing opportunities unless they spend loads of money on employees and freelancers.

Plus, some of the activities just don’t provide a good enough return on investment.

For instance, I did entrecard for a couple of months. After analyzing my return on time invested, I decided to stop. My link goes to that article if anyone is interested.

Warmly,

Linda P. Morton

I completely agree with the previous two comments. Having a marketing system in place (especially for large companies) is a great idea. The company I work for is fairly large, and we don’t have anything like this in place yet… we’re a mess, all over the place, and missing out on a lot of great opportunities.

A business marketing system is essential but a well-organised one should enable you to focus on your tasks in a systematic manner, enabling you to create the time to participate in time-consuming occupations such as social media.

It’s amazing how much you can get done when you fully concentrate on a set of tasks and if you apply this to social media (e.g. spend 15 mins max each day on each social media site) then you can have the time to participate in almost all forms of online marketing.

Staying organized and on top of all the little daily tasks IS my biggest downfall. One day I’ll start with the social media site, get lost in it, and before you know it, I’m there all day.

However, you guys are right, and it’s never too late to come up with a good marketing plan.

Thanks for the tips,
Rick

For me I have the marketing plan but I have a hard time executing it. So what I ended up doing was hiring someone to do it for me. It has freed up a lot of time for me

That is the differences between a million dollar business model and a thousand dollar one. Spending more time on operational work will tie you down and creating less time for growing your business. - Rif Chia

Having a great marketing plan needs effort and time to be able to perfect it. In my current job now, My boss gave me an excellent marketing plan and I stuck to it while watching the results prosper.

This is a fantastic explanation of and argument for marketing systems. I think many of my best clients have a very keen understanding of a consistent system as demonstrated by their regular efforts to build content. In addition, as you point out, they understand the importance of outsourcing tasks and focusing on the extremely important, high-value areas for them.

Thank you for part two here! Looking forward to seeing your next post in this series.

The only trouble is that you first have to try as many marketing strategies as possible and then track and analyze each one in order to know which ones are working well for your particular project.

I belief that is what a marketing plan should entail, that you try, test and then stick with what works.

It’s only then that you can be able to concentrate your using the 80/20 rule and trash the rest out of your way.

@AffiliateMarketingTips

Basically you’re right. You have to find what’s working for you and your project, two different variables, but…

Hang on Joseph, I’m not done yet.

I will show you an excellent marketing funnel system example and yes, I’m going to discuss the 80/20 rule soon!

Successful netrepreneur I know of focus on 2-3 marketing strategies and master them.

I wish I have been told about this when I was getting started. Treating a business really like a business is so critical the success of any online venture for the long haul.

Much of the time I spend is on technical stuff. I came from the background and it is really hard to stop doing what I enjoy doing. :)

Having a business marketing system in place is a lesson that extends online or offline. In the financial sector, there is a thing called diworsification in which companies just expand into areas where they have no business going.

It’s the same thing in business marketing and the comments above have stated - random social networking with no clear defined goal just sucks up your time from your core business. In time, people realize that but at opportunity cost when they could have been doing something more productive.

This is a great post. When I first started online, my biggest downfall was lack of focus and time management. I would be “working” all day, but it seemed like I would barely get anything done.

For those just starting out, you can save yourself alot of downtime by taking this advice.

Case,

We all agree that by having a Marketing System can save countless hours (For this is a statement of the obvious). However, your post failed to tell us something valuable such as HOW TO CREATE a Marketing System. Let’s get right to the point…Time is money.

Perhaps this is my problem, is that my plans don’t consist on different areas of the business. Mostly just development, which is my favorite part. I should consider outsourcing my marketing areas as I always find myself coming up short in this area.

To tackle both marketing and development work by the same company it’s not possible. Let’s say an automobile products developer simply outsource his/her work to quality marketing firm as they need good business with the development of products and company.
