How To Find Niches To Market
Another guest post today by Steven Swagenheim.

Today’s article is about…
Niche Marketing Research Basics
One of the most important things when it comes to starting a home business is doing research on the niche that you want to get into.
The reason is simple.
You don’t want to get involved in a niche that has no demand or very little demand or a niche where the competition is so overwhelming that there is no way you can break into the marketplace.
To that end, proper niche research methods are required. This article is going to briefly cover those basics and then point you to a free resource where you can get more information.
The first, and maybe the most important step of researching a niche is actually choosing one in the first place.
Many marketers literally stare at blank computer screens trying to figure this out. Well, in my opinion, the best way to pick out a niche for research purposes is to sit down and make a list of your hobbies, interests and skills.
You might as well start with something that you enjoy doing if you’re going to do it at all. Otherwise, you could be spending the rest of your life making money at something that you absolutely hate.
And as far as I’m concerned, that’s no better than having a job.
Your next step is finding out how many people are searching for this niche on a monthly basis. There is no point in getting into something if there is no traffic to be had. There are many good keyword tools that you can use to do this but I suggest using Wordtracker, which you can find at:
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
It’s free and it’s quite good. I find it to be the most accurate of all of them. The paid version is even better. You might want to consider upgrading to it once you start to make some money from your niche.
After you do your keyword research, the next step is to head on over to the search engines to see how many competing sites there are for that niche.
Now, there are many search engines online but the one I suggest going to first is Google. The reason is because Google reaches 50% of the Internet population…more than any other search engine online.
After comparing the keyword searches to the competing sites numbers, you can then determine if this niche is going to be profitable enough to get into.
Now obviously, there is more to it than this.
But because the actual process of doing keyword and competing sites analysis is so extensive, I’ve put together a free report that you can find in my signature. I go through the whole process step by step so that there is no confusion.
Without proper keyword research, you have very little chance to start a business that is going to be profitable in the long run.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim

Right now I’m working in Spain, and It’s kind of hard to find a good and profitable niche. The thing is that is just the right moment to come into this market to create new “niche Finder” companies… they will just get rich in a couple of months.

When identifying niches, not only do you have to find demand for something, you have to find an area where competition is low. Otherwise it will be impossible to rank for your keywords. Great blog will return.

Finding a niche market is tough - you can do all the keyword research and then still not have the results you expected. It can be done, but it take a lot of research. I will check out your ebook
P.S.- I was reading your comment policy - you might want to check into a plug-in called keyword luv…let’s people put in an actual name, but also get the keywords for their link.

Excellent points. The internet brings together previously separate communities, making niche markets a viable and profitable possibility. Good niches tend to get crowded ever so quickly, so I guess the bottom line is to simply follow your passion. It will naturally show in the value of the content that you write.

Very true! Most people don’t realize how easy it is to find niches that have little to no competition. If more people searched the way you mentioned, they would be better off in terms of top google ranking.

Very informative article with very useful points in finding a niche to market. The very fundamental factor to consider here is to know first sufficient information about the niche you want to get involve with and how are the competition going on there with your selected keyword. Once you followed this concept, your site will rank on top in no time.

As a sales consultant and trainer, one of the things I preach to the startups I work with is focusing on targeted accounts by niche or demographic. By maintaining a focus on one type of person or purpose, your sales efforts become a scalable process.
As others said, your tone is strong and your point powerful. Great post and I will see you again soon.

I love niche market, I have a couple of websites for deferent niches from distinct markets.
They don’t have huge visits but my country market is smaller.
Best in the niche is to find a “new one” with low competition!
Thanks,
António
ps. - Is impossible to add content to the Website text area with firefox, the pop-up javascript doesn’t allow. Always popping.

I think that when you are exploring your niche…do what your good at. Write about what you know the most about that also includes personal experience. If you are a woman it may be about child care or gardening, a guy might know a lot about maintaining a motor vehicle or fishing…just do what your good at.
Once you have established that its time to start writing some content and saving it on your PC or disk so that you always have something handy to post.
I think now it would be time to move on to marketing your niche…Okay Kenneth…your turn…tell us about marketing and testing the ads and everything else that goes with that…!!!

When I was doing Affiliate stuff, bout a year ago, I spent at least 2 weeks researching a market and gaining contacts in the industry before I ever even stepped into it. The key is to find something so dialed down, but still gets sustainable new traffic… Of course aiming at things that people are desperate for helps too (weightloss, debt-relief, etc.)
thanks

Wordtracker free version is a relatively good keyword research tool. However, if you are into localized search optimization, i will suggest the use of Google Keyword Tool where you can easily break down the results in geographical location.

Finding a niche with little competition with a high search rating can be the key to internet success. Wordtracker is a good tool however, I prefered the overture keyword suggestion tool, as it offered country specific results. I tend to use the adwords keyword suggestion tool more nowadays.
