Do You Make This Disastrous Mistake Creating An Online Business?

Every day thousands and thousands of people come up with the idea to start an online home business. Which is great. I encourage everyone to do so.
The main task the majority of them face is to learn how to get online. They don’t know how to create a website, let alone how to successfully sell online or even how to establish a real online home business.
That on itself is no problem, it can be learned and there are many online resources where you can get tons of information about these topics for free. This blog is one of them. 
However, it DOES take time to learn that!
Actually, creating websites and establishing an online business already are two different topics, yet in the course of the learning process it’s quite easy to put them together and see them as one.
(Right now I’m creating a new approach to shorten that learning curve as much as possible. It will probably take me another few weeks, but it will be rewarding. If you’re interested, stay tuned.)
So, YES, learning how to establish an online business is very do-able for those who really want that.
But many of these people saddle themselves up with another problem. Let me explain.
At the end of December I received following email as a reaction on my autoresponder series that I’ve set up for newbies.
Subject: Beginners-Question
Thank you very much for the email.
I have been working on developing an online business for a number of months and part of that has been trying to learn as much as possible on how to be become successful on line.
I see this as my only way of securing my future as I lost my job for the second time in two years with redundancy, and turning 49 in Jan I feel that I need to take control of my own future as well as [withheld for privacy reasons]….
I have put a plan based on 2 years to get to this point and my idea of a website is based on Self Help.
Everything I have learnt and achieved in life has been through hard work and learning from my mistakes; so I came up with the idea of have a website which reviews and gives advice on the best self help programs on the market and to use some of my own experiences to help people, would welcome your thoughts on how best to move things forward.

I don’t want the sender to feel uncomfortable, which is why I hold back some data. I just want to use this message as an example. There are many people writing me similar emails.
At least the person sending the above email had an idea of what kind of home business to build online.
Most people, sometimes desperately, just want to establish an Internet business, but have absolutely have NO idea what kind.
as long as someone guarantees it will be successful.
They want to hear the final and decisive solution for their problems from me, as if I have a magic pill that works for everyone in all circumstances. Which, of course, I haven’t.
They are so desperate or frustrated, that they do not see the simple solution for this problem. They just refuse to see why an online business, or any business for that matter, can become successful.
Instead, they now saddle themselves up with TWO main problems: 
- how to establish an online business and
- how to learn all I can about my completely new business.
While how to design a website basically is a technical problem and how to establish an online business for the most part is a matter of common sense, learning about a completely new business is a totally different matter. You first have to become more or less of an expert to establish yourself as such online.
See these three extra steps?
1. learn everything you can about your new business,
2. become an expert and beat the competition and
3. stay ahead of the crowd.
How long will that take? Huh?
In the mean time, the solution is so simple, because in most cases these people already have taken these steps. All they have to do is first look at themselves. What do they like, what do they know, what have they done and so on.
Fundamentals of a successful (online) business.
In the example shown above, it took me 2 emails to find out about the gentleman’s profession. He was so focused on his idea of entering the self help area, that he even didn’t read what I was asking him: “What’s your occupation, what are your hobbies, what are your passions?”
(Partially that was my own fault. I sinned against my own rule not to ask more than one question: I asked two. And, of course, didn’t get either of the answers 
)
It appeared that he had NO experience of any kind in the self help niche, but he’s been in sales for the last 15 years or so. Well, then THAT’S exactly the place to start looking for opportunities!
If he’s good at sales and can write, he can start with an easy online income as a ghost writer. These people are in high demand these days.
But it doesn’t stop there. If he can write - or is willing to learn to write - great converting sales letters, the sky is the limit.
THAT’S where the low hanging fruit is. Right under your nose.
Picking business topics that you know everything about does not only make it easier to create highly valuable content, it also reduces your problems to get online from two to only one!
Yet I still see so many people make this huge mistake that it really frustrates me. Apparently, I’m not able to convey the simple solution, until they sign up for my newsletter, where one of the first things I give away is a simple system to achieve your online business goals.
That’s an outstanding way to list everything necessary to become successful online.
For starters, you have to work a bit, which excludes the tire kickers. Second, it gives you an overview of strong and weak points. Powerful.

Starting an online business is a challenging task to do. In choosing a business, you should choose a business suits to your interest or something that you love to do. I guess that’s the most basic thing in starting an online business.
