Your Best Internet Business Opportunities

I frequently receive emails from new subscribers asking me what the best Internet business opportunity is for them.

best Internet opportunitiesMy answer is always the same: I raise my hands in the air, saying “I don’t know”!

That’s because I do not know you, your strong and weak points, your knowledge, your will power, the time that you have available, whether you can focus or not and a lot of other things. I can’t decide for you, you have to make that decision yourself.

But I also always include some guidelines and I will reprint them right now. Here goes.

There are basically two ways to set up a successful Internet business:

- follow your passion, hobby or profession, or …
- follow the money

Following your passion, hobby or profession

If you’re promoting and selling your passion, hobby or profession, then it’s much easier for you to create high value content and products and pass that along in such an enthusiastic and decisive way that it automatically will show your expertise!
And that’s exactly what people are looking for online: solutions from an expert.

Once established as an expert, you use that status to build a strong relationship with your prospects. Use your knowledge to help them as much as you can. The point is, all things being equal, people prefer to buy from a friend, rather than a stranger.
And a positive side effect is, this strategy will build your confidence!

The problem taking this route is that, before you start, you have to make sure your products or services are in demand and that people are willing to pay for them.
I’ve seen so many people do this wrong. They just created a product or a service NObody was interested in. They fell in love with their product that couldn’t be sold, because there was no demand for it. Frustration was the result.

Following the money

This means you first do your research looking at what’s hot and in demand and then create an online business for it. In fact, what you’re doing here is jumping on the wagon. And you already know it’s a successful one.

And although you already know there’s a hungry market out there, willing to pay for products, that doesn’t guarantee you will be successful too.
The problem with this strategy is, that you likely aren’t knowledgeable about the topic. You can’t create high value content and products and you can’t answer most questions adequately.
You then either need to quickly become an expert or hire one or you have to outsource everything. No question that the latter costs money.

Be knowledgeable.
Either way, it is of the utmost importance to be knowledgeable about the products or services you are selling, because you eventually have to answer questions or inquiries from potential customers and even may have to discuss alternatives!
You need to answer them accurately, because you have to show you’re the expert to build a relationship of mutual understanding and trust and agreement.

Build confidence
Therefore, in my opinion, the best web business for you is one that you’re knowledgeable about. Knowing exactly what you’re talking about builds your self confidence and that on its turn will absolutely give you the advantage. In fact, you won’t be able to effectively sell online without that confidence.

You see, reputation is the key.
This implies that the more satisfied your customers are, the more they’re willing to come back again for more and to recommend you to their network.
Even on the Net word of mouth is far and away the best advertising you can ever get. You’ll get it for free and it serves as a testimonial to potential customers.
Nothing is more powerful than that.

Have you decided yet which strategy to follow?

  1. Your Best Internet Business Opportunities…

Many, many people want to go online and create a home based business. Yet only few know exactly what kind of business they want. The majority doesn’t.
Although I can’t tell any other person what to do, simply because I don’t know that person, their …

  2. Yes, i prefer to follow my passion, but of course it must be a hot selling or at least highly searched product, otherwise i won’t be able to get the sales income that i aim for.

  3. In starting a business, it’s important that you have to choose a business that suits to your interests or hobbies. Make sure that you have enough knowledge for that business or else you will end with nothing and you just waste your time and resources for that business.

I had some experience about direct selling, MLM or network marketing off line, but I didn’t have a clue about HTML, Internet marketing, website design and how to translate the real life knowledge and experience to the virtual world when I started looking for ways to make some bucks on the web.
Due to my bad economic situation at that time, I decided to follow the money route and learn how to do it.
It was a long and rewarding experience.

  5. Choose a business that fits to your interests and you love to do, for me it’s the best key to achieve success in your business.

  6. If you like to play the adsense game , you can follow the money…or create an ebiz where not much knowledge is needed, but It’s hard to ‘enjoy’ it.

I prefer to choose a biz that does interest me..No need to be a complete “expert” on the topic from the start and if you are prepared to research and learn as you go you will just doing fine.

Sometimes it’s your level of experience that differentiate your biz from many others out there !

  7. You are absolutely right, blog about subjects where you have gained authority through your profession or hobby experiences.

Another tip: don’t force yourself blogging just for having a new post. Keep quality in mind, not quantity

What ever you said is abosolutely right & its infact the reality!!

    Thanks for sharing this information.

  10. A very good post and highlights some of the problems people face when looking to make money online.

I have a lot of people asking me the same question. The truth is there are so many ways to make money online but they require effort and hard work and many people just dont want to hear that, they just want the quick fix.

  11. I was self employed in the building trade for over 9 years but stopped to build an online business for myself.

I’m a very intoverted person who doesn’t care much for the company of others, apart from my wife and children that is.

Working online is perfect for my personality. I work 18-20 hours every day on my own.

If you’re going to be building a business on the internet I think you need to be prepared to put in some long hours on your own.

Many people would probably find what I do lonely but I really enjoy it. I have learnt to be disciplined and work to a systematic plan.

In truth, I find almost everything I’m doing right now boring but I know that if I stick to the plan my family will be well looked after and I’ll be able to retire much sooner than I would have been able to in the building trade.

  12. The matter of fact is that there are indeed numerous ways to make money online. Most people don’t get that it takes *work*, just as it does with any offline business as well.

  13. Carole says:

It is so true that you need to love what you are doing, whether online or off.

I am a retired (newly) accountant who has always wanted to work online, and I have a lot of interests, so the question is which one?

I took some time and researched so that I wouldn’t spend a lot of money here and there for this and that.

I decided ultimately to talk to a coach, Terry Dean (www.mymarketingcoach.com), and this is the best decision I could have made. It has saved me not only money but time, and now I know exactly what direction I’m headed and the fastest way to get there.

I like the blog and hope to be back.

  14. In some cases I’ve found that if you do enough research beforehand it is very likely that you can find a niche that is both enjoyable to write about and fairly profitable.

With the growing competition on the internet it is a good strategy to basically focus an entire website on a single base keyword phrase, and have every category and post be closely related to this topic.

Doing this helps your website build authority in the eyes of both the search engines and your visitors.

The ultimate tip I can give is closely related to Case’s… make sure the niche you pick to write about is profitable! This is probably more important than choosing a niche based on what you like, because after years of not making any money doing something you like, you won’t feel very satisfied.

Of course, with a little extra time and effort, you can most likely find a happy medium between your interests and money.

  15. Firepow says:

I prefer to do a combination of ‘follow your passion’ and ‘follow the money’.

When I follow my passion in my business it’s more about creating an authority site for me and getting social with people. Money is something that happens naturally and over time with this focus I find.

When I follow the money and look for whats hot in products or conversations I am out to make money as quickly as possible and at the same time give the public highly valuable information.

As described in this article though the main problem I face in following the money focus is the fact that I have to do lots of learning very quickly which can be a big pain.

But I get most success combining the two of these areas together in my business.

  16. “Reputation is the key”.. best advice to any business, including online businesses. I have been involved in a number of start up companies, mostly terrestrial, and I must say that you MUST have that one aspect if you are ever going to see your business grow.

Of course having a spectacular product or service does not hurt either.

  17. GREAT post here – especially when you spoke of reputation. Little story – a close friend of mine and myself both launched a product a few months back, and we sort of turned it into a competition (well, as best as we could), and you know why I won?

He actually got some very poor feedback on a popular forum for a previous product launch, with accusations of scamming and everything…long story short, since his name was on the new product, people did their research, found the old info, and it really hurt his sales.

Reputation is key, so make sure not to spoil it!

  18. Freelancer job blog says:

Like it you or not, people are talking often about any website online. They are try to talk about our brand, our famous products, internet industry and competition. I try to follow people oppinions at blogs, to think about that my website is here because its people can you it well.Reputation is the key.

  19. Sport shopping says:

I always follow my passion.Man who wants to be happy and successifully in his life must enjoy in his job.Afther that if he is smart – reputation will come soon as possibile.

  20. Guinness store says:

Well, following your passion is definitely most desireable, and usually leads to the best results.

Having said that, I take a slightly different view, in that if something is hot, and I can sell it – I’m game!

Here’s a good example that sums up how I feel these days – If my passion is salt, but pepper is selling better, I’m pushing the pepper no questions asked.

  21. SitesPower Training Institute Dubai says:

In college, my major was entrepreneurship, and some important knowledge gained from my studies might help.
1- the rate of new business closure is many multiples higher for those entering a business that is new to them. so look for a line that you know inside and out
2- make a business plan for yourself. if you can’t identify and quantify who your target customers are, who your competitors are, how you will reach them and how much it will cost you to service them, then this is no business at all.

On a personal note, the “do what you love” and “love what you do” are both valid…and in either case, we must make sure that we are good at our new jobs and that there is a market for it.

  22. I will not post here links to affiliate pages or something of that kind, but I will tell you that affiliate companies can provide a great start for your business so just google a little but and find out a few affiliate pages and create some quality content for that. After that read a few SEO tutorials and promote your site. It is not hard but you need to invest some of your time for that.

  23. One of the attractive aspects of pursuing a career as an online marketer is that it’s an obtainable goal for anyone with a website or blog. Of course, you must start the ball rolling by providing the information a visitor seeks and hold his interest to make a sale. If you want to write the content yourself, check out the Netwriting Masters Course for a free 50-page eBook on “The Simple Art of e-Persuasion” which covers the important aspects of “pre-selling.”

  24. I go by the “do what you love and money will follow” philosophy, it`s getting very difficult to determine a products worth nowadays since most Home Business Reviews are done without reviewing the product in question I`m sure … merely someone seeing the commissions and little regard if the program works or not.

I`ve been researching to find those that DO tell the truth as they find it, those that test and review a product and give an HONEST review of it instead of an automatic thumbs up … not many about.

When someone searches for an opportunity they`re more than likely going to see only positive reviews of a product and it will seem like it`s “perfect” for them … so if your in it for “the money” you`ll no doubt be disallusioned quickly because it`s more work/slower than “promised”.

On the other hand, if you follow what you love, you will find it MUCH easier to see through the hype and BS and have a clearer idea if the product is worth investing in … that`s my 3 cents worth anyway (yes inflation has hit)

    Chris
P.S. Excellent site Case, bookmarked and will return again … keep it up mate.

  26. When I first started selling on the internet I didn’t have a clue about internet marketing or even how to sell. I just knew I wanted to do it. So for me, I needed to find a system that would teach me how to market effectively and produce sales.

I’m sure a lot of other people are in the same boat. They may not have a passion for a particular niche, nor do they know where the money is. This is especially true for beginners. They’re just looking for a way to start and someone to teach them.

So far it has worked well for me. Now that I know more, I can venture off into a niche I have passion about and build a business around it.

    Thanks for the article,

You would imagine that most entrepreneurs would focus on starting a business surrounding their interests, but a lot just don’t. That’s what I think is the number one mistake internet entrepreneurs make. Great advice!
