Do You Digg?

If you're new here, you may want to Subscribe to my Updates or to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It looks so simple ….
After signing up at Digg, you just click a button below your favorite post, write a short review and submit it.
You just ‘dugged’ a message.

If it makes it to the first page of Digg, you’re in for tons of extra traffic.
So what most people do is find a highly controversial title for their ‘digg’ to get it opened and hopefully digged.

But … “How can my boring Internet Marketing story compete with one about eh, let’s say, Paris Hilton?”

Well, it can!
You see, Digg isn’t as simple as it looks.
Just because a message gets a lots of diggs, doesn’t automatically mean it will make it to the home page.
There’s a complex algorithm in place according to Kevin Rose, president of Digg.

One of the factors taken into account is the category. So, messages in the sports category generally require less diggs to reach the front page than stories submitted in the technology category!

So, yes, Digg is more complex than you think. Just have a look at Stack, a wonderful graphic interface which shows diggs in real time, or Swarm, which creates brightly colored circles for stories as they are dugg.

If you really want to know how to use Digg, here’s a great Beginners Guide by Neil Patel.
That’s where I got most of my information from!

And then, just for fun, check out 10 Steps to Guarantee You Make the Digg Front Page.

Finally, let me know if you ‘digg’ this.
